The Tone Zone fitness suite offers a wide range of cardiovascular and resistance machines designed to meet your fitness needs. Our team of professional fitness instructors will provide expert advice and encouragement, while you work out and re-energise yourself in a relaxed and comfortable environment.

Regular exercise is the first step to promoting a healthier lifestyle and to improving overall physical and mental well being. With the increasing demands of today's busy lifestyle, more people are recognising the benefits and enjoyment of participating in regular exercise.

So whatever your goal, the fitness suite will meet your needs, in your pursuit of a more active and healthier lifestyle.

Programme

The Tone Zone is open from 7.00am until 10.00pm Monday to Friday, from 8.30am until 5.00pm on Saturday and 8.00am until 9.00pm on Sunday. The last admission to the Tone Zone is half an hour before closing.

Admissions Policy

Customers need to be 16 or older and have completed a gym induction before they can use the tone zone unsupervised.

Juniors (14 - 16 year olds) can use the tone zone unaccompanied between 9.00am - 6.00pm weekdays and anytime during the weekend. If they wish to attend after 6.00pm they must be accompanied by an adult.

All tone zone customers are issued with a swipe card after completing their induction. This card must be presented at reception to gain admission and admission is at the discretion of the centre management if a card can not be produced.

Inductions

In order to use the Tone Zone you will be required to undertake an induction, during which you will be shown the correct use of the fitness equipment in order to gain an understanding of how to use the equipment safely and obtain the maximum benefits from your workout.

During the session you will have the opportunity to try the equipment so please bring appropriate clothing and flat shoes or trainers with you.

As well as the induction or familiarisation session, customers can arrange for a personal health check or for a personal training programme to be created for them.

We recommend that all customers have a personal programme created and have their programme reviewed by a member of staff every six weeks.

Inductions, health checks and programme reviews are available throughout each day and can be booked at reception.

If you are intending to use the gym at least twice a week then please consider one of our membership packages. Our cheapest package starts from just £5.00 a week for use of the gym, exercise classes and swimming.

Exercise Classes

As part of your fitness routine a class at Francis Scaife Sports Centre will give you an excellent cardiovascular workout. Our instructors provide the motivation to work yourself as hard as you need. Choose from our wide range of classes, as to which will suit your fitness goals. Our staff are always available for advice and support.

Classes are divided into five areas and then into the different class types. The majority of classes are suitable for all abilities as our instructors will deliver a programme that allows you to exercise at your own pace.

Aerobic Based Classes

Aerobics

Energetic cardiovascular workout which can be done high or low impact. Aerobics is ideal to improve fitness and burn calories. Easy to learn fun movement to music.

Step Aerobics

A workout performed on a step platform, great for cardiovascular training and toning those thighs and bum.

Low Impact Aerobics

An introductory gentle cardiovascular workout for the beginner to start you on your path to health and fitness.

T.O.F.F.S.

An activity morning for the over fifties. You can take part in a low impact exercise class, use the pool, play badminton and table tennis, workout in the gym, or simply relax in the sauna. End the morning socialising with a tea or coffee in the foyer.

Ladies Leisure - Aerobics

An activity morning combining a moderate workout class to combat those problem areas, an opportunity to workout in the gym, take a dip in the pool or simply relax in the sauna. Finish the morning socialising with a tea or coffee in the foyer.

Boxercise

Powerful, energetic fitness class using pads, gloves, punch bags and fitness moves used for boxing. It's fun and simple to do for both male and female. No previous experience necessary.

Circuit training is simple to follow and an ideal way to get fit and stay fit. A session combining various aerobic and resistance exercise designed to be taken at your own pace.

Aqua Classes

Aqua Fit

Ultimate low impact workout and total body toning. A refreshing form of exercise only water can provide. It is also an excellent first class to try if you are new to exercise. Non swimmers welcome.

Deep Water Aqua

Enjoyable class using a flotation belt and other aqua equipment. Deep water running is great for cross training and an excellent calorie burner. Water provides resistance for the body to work against which helps improve muscular strength and endurance. Suitable for all abilities.

Body Balance

Body Balance is the Yoga, Tai Chi, Pilates workout that builds flexibility and strength and leaves you feeling centered and calm. Controlled breathing, concentration and a carefully structured series of stretches, moves and poses to music create a holistic workout that brings the body into a state of harmony and balance. Improve your joint flexibility and range of movement. Increase your core strength. Improve your cardio-vascular function. Burn calories. Reduce your stress levels. Provide a lasting sense of well-being and calm. Focus your mind and raise your level of consciousness through controlled breathing.

Classes will be held on a Monday evening 8.00pm - 9.00pm and a Friday evening 7.00pm - 8.00pm.

Body Jam

Body Jam gives you all the benefits of cardiovascular exercise, including burning lots of calories. When the class kicks into performance phase, heart rates go through the roof. Dance is also great for improving coordination, with a big focus on moving through a wide range of planes and movement tempos. There is plenty of time to learn each new move – Body Jam choreography is simple and the instructor will coach style and direction – and motivate participants to perform at their best. Best of all, Body Jam will get you hooked on dance and the emotional high that comes from this unique form of self-expression.

Classes will run on Wednesday afternoons 2.15pm - 3.15pm.

Body Pump

Body Pump Image

Body Pump is the fastest way to shape up and lose body fat. It’s a toning and conditioning class with weights and is for just about everybody who wants to add strength training into their aerobic workout. The simplicity of the class makes Body Pump a great starting point to develop strength and confidence. Hot sounds and compelling choreography keep you going through each one-hour workout. You’ll use a step platform, a bar and a set of weights.

Classes take place on a Monday evening 7.00pm - 8.00pm, Thursday afternoon 12.00pm - 1.00pm, Friday evening 6.00pm - 7.00pm and a Sunday morning 10.00am - 11.00am.
